Summary

FJES is a gold-open-access, peer-reviewed outlet for cross-disciplinary research spanning engineering and applied sciences. The journal follows COPE best practice on ethics, ICMJE authorship rules, and publishes under a CC BY 4.0 licence while charging no APCs at present. Manuscripts must be original, ethically sound, and formatted exactly as described below to enable rapid handling through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. 1 Aims, Scope & Article Types

FJES welcomes fundamental or applied studies in civil, mechanical, electrical, computer, materials, environmental, and allied sciences when an engineering dimension is clear. Acceptable formats include Full Articles (≤ 8 000 words), Reviews (≤ 10 000 words), Case Studies/Technical Notes (≤ 4 000 words), Short Communications (≤ 2 500 words), and Perspectives (≤ 3 000 words). Lengthier submissions must justify scope to the editors.

2 Editorial Procedure & Peer Review

  • Single-blind peer review keeps reviewers anonymous, with at least two independent experts evaluating scientific merit.

  • A handling editor synthesises reports and issues one of four decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Reject. Average first-decision time is 4–6 weeks; authors normally return revisions within 30 days.

  • Guest-edited special issues follow identical review workflows; guest editors cannot handle their own papers.

3 Ethical Responsibilities

3.1 Research Integrity

The journal follows COPE flow-charts for plagiarism, fabrication, redundant publication and other misconduct. Publication Ethics

3.2 Authorship

All listed authors must satisfy the four ICMJE criteria (substantial contribution; drafting/revising; final approval; accountability). Any change in author list post-submission requires written consent from all co-authors. ICMJE

3.3 Plagiarism & Text Recycling

Similarity-checking software screens every submission; overlaps are handled per COPE guidance. Publication Ethics

3.4 Conflicts of Interest & Funding

Declare all financial or non-financial competing interests and complete funding information (funder name, grant number, funder role) in the Statements & Declarations section.

3.5 Human/Animal Subjects

Studies involving humans, animals, or sensitive data must cite ethical-committee approval and confirm informed consent was obtained.

3.6 AI & Large-Language Models

Generative-AI tools cannot be credited as authors; any use must be transparently described in the Methods, with responsibility resting on human contributors. NatureWIRED

4 Open-Access Policy & Copyright

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, permitting worldwide distribution, adaptation and commercial use with proper attribution. Authors retain copyright. Creative Commons

5 Publication Fees

FJES currently levies minimal Article Processing Charges (APCs). If fees are revised later, waiver schemes for low-income regions and unfunded research will be announced on the journal website.
